Avoid Lonnie Gary as your accountant

I must say that in my opinion, you don't want to use Lonnie L. Gary or the the Mountain View office of American Express Tax and Business Services, run by Dennis Young CPA and now part of H&R block, as your accountant.

I have been entirely unsatisfied with the service there. On serveral occasions I have learned imporant tax tips through other sources that I truly believe they should have been telling me. They charge too much and I think at best they do a rather mediocre job.

Fern Amaral, his associate, didn't seem to do much better. When I decided to quit using the firm, I found them to be quite gruff and unwilling to assist with something as simple as generating a PDF of a prior year's return without a $50 "PDF Fee."
